Nature,
Nurture or Neither? Genetics in the post-genome era

| WC1 This event is organised in partnership with the Galton
Institute.
In
May 2006 the sequence of the last human chromosome was published
in the journal Nature closing another chapter of the Human Genome
Project. What have we achieved since the origins of the project?
Where are we now and what does the future hold?
This
one day conference will be an opportunity to explore and debate
both the achievements and limitations of genetic research to date.

A conference organised in association with the Royal
College of Nursing
This
one-day conference is for all nurses, midwives and other health
professionals who wish to increase their awareness and understanding
of genetics and how it impacts upon all aspects of everyday healthcare
practice.
Speakers
will address the growing influence of genetics and inherited disorders
on healthcare. They will explore the impact of genetics through
the life-stages and present personal reflections in addition to
looking at genetics education and topical issues. The joint Progress
Educational Trust/RCN publication: "A
Guide to Genetics" will be launched at the conference. This
booklet will help you answer many of the questions raised by your
patients/clients regarding genetics and the potential impact of
inherited diseases.
