The science, law and ethics of preimplantation genetic diagnosis

The words 'designer babies' - often associated with preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) - conjure up images of a brave new world of genetic manipulation.
The reality of this procedure is, however, much less alarming. Designer myths attempts to clarify a debate which has been mired in incorrect science and muddied by science fiction fantasy.
Starting from a description of the scientific realities and clinical methods of PGD, Designer myths places the procedure within existing regulatory frameworks, explores the ethical implications and makes cogent recommendations for future regulation.
