Mary Rice is a journalist and communications consultant who formerly helped to manage the Progress Educational Trust (PET). Her interest in genetics and assisted conception began when she was Director of Public Communication at the Medical Research Council, working on the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990. She subsequently became Chief Executive of the European Biomedical Research Association, and worked in communications for organisations including the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology, the European Society of Human Genetics and the European Cancer Organisation. She currently runs media programmes for the conferences of European life science organisations.
