Ayala Ochert was previously Science Editor at the Progress Educational Trust (PET) and at its flagship publication BioNews, where she remains a Volunteer Writer. She is currently a freelance science journalist, and has written for publications including Nature, New Scientist, Discover, the Independent and the Times Higher Education Supplement. Previously she was Editor of Interactions, the member newspaper of the Institute of Physics. She has also worked as Associate Editor of California Monthly, the alumni magazine of the University of California, Berkeley. She has a diverse range of interests, has written on subjects ranging from anthropology to zoology, and is currently writing a book on the science of breastmilk.
