Denmark's supreme court has ruled that a child born to a Cuban mother using Danish donor sperm is not entitled to Danish citizenship, according to The Local DK.
Danish law provides that all children whose fathers are Danish are automatically entitled to citizenship from birth. However, the court ruled that a sperm donor is not considered the legal father of a child born through artificial insemination.
The ruling is important because Denmark is home to the largest sperm bank in the world.
