Professor Martin Johnson is something of a legend in the world of assisted reproduction.
Martin is a highly respected and distinguished scientist who has made an exceptional
contribution to our understanding of human development leading to implementation of
changes in practice in assisted reproduction which have transformed the lives of millions of
people and gained an international reputation for the UK as a leader in this field.
He served as Vice-Master and then President of Christ's College, Cambridge from
2007. Martin was involved in the Progress Campaign - the precursor organisation to PET. Indeed, a former PhD student of his, Dr Virginia Bolton, was a founding trustee of PET. He has continued to advise and support PET for more than 30 years.
So, it was no surprise that many of the great and the good attended a birthday lunch at Christ's College to mark his 80th Birthday.
There to join the celebrations were Professor Sir Jim Smith, Professor Peter Braude, Professor Sarah Franklin, Professor Kathy Niakan, Professor Dame Ashley Moffet, the list goes on. Sarah Norcross, Director at PET was thrilled to have been invited.
Intriguingly, Professor Sir Simon Schama was also there, but we have yet to work out this famous historian's connection to Martin Johnson.
All the team at PET would like to wish Martin a very happy 80th Birthday!
