Dr Evan Harris

Dr Evan Harris was previously an Adviser to the Progress Educational Trust (PET), and is Vice-Chair of the Federal Policy Committee of the Liberal Democrats. He is also a member of the British Medical Association's Medical Ethics Committee. Previously, he was a Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon, was Shadow Health Secretary and Shadow Science Secretary for the Liberal Democrats, and was the party's spokesman on Higher Education, Science and Women's Issues. He also served on the Science and Technology Select Committee of the House of Commons, was Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Kidney Group, and completed an Industry and Parliament Trust Fellowship at GlaxoSmithKline. Originally he studied Medicine at the University of Oxford where he qualified as a doctor, and he trained in emergency hospital medicine in Liverpool and at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
