Freelance Adjudicating Editor
The ESHRE Journals have an exciting opportunity to join the Editorial Office Support Team as a scientific Adjudicating Editor in a freelance capacity.
The role involves scientific proofreading of manuscripts provisionally accepted for publication in the ESHRE Journals – Human Reproduction, Human Reproduction Update, Human Reproduction Open and Molecular Human Reproduction.
Applicants should have the capacity to work up to 15 hours per week and be willing to enter a Freelance Agreement with the journals' publisher, Oxford University Press.
The role:
- Cross-reference for adherence to minor revision requests.
- Scientific proofread to ensure clarity of meaning.
- Confirmation that supporting tables and figures are a true representation of data presented in manuscripts.
- Language and grammar check of provisionally accepted manuscripts.
- Ensure that abstracts are an accurate reflection of data presented in manuscripts.
- Final check that journal style has been fully implemented.
- Liaise directly with authors for final approval of manuscripts.
Candidates should:
- Hold a PhD in reproductive biology and/or reproductive medicine, or a closely allied topic. (Candidates without a PhD but with extensive experience of scientific proofing in an academic publishing environment will also be considered.)
- Have a basic understanding of relevant statistical methodology.
- Have experience of using manuscript submission systems, as an author and reviewer.
- Have exceptional attention to detail.
- Be able to work without supervision and manage workload efficiently.
- Have excellent communication skills.
