Professor Dame Lesley Regan

Professor Dame Lesley Regan is a Patron of the Progress Educational Trust (PET), Secretary General of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, and a Member of the NHS Assembly. She is also Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Imperial College London, and she is Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Mary's Hospital in London. She is Co-Director of the Women's Health Research Centre and of Baby BioBank, Chair of the charities Wellbeing of Women and Charity for Research into Miscarriage, and Co-Chair of the Women's Health Taskforce for England established by the UK Government. She received a DBE for services to women's healthcare in the New Year Honours List 2020.

Lesley was previously President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists - the second woman ever to hold this role, and the first in 64 years - and was also Chair of the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death. She combines her clinical and research work on recurrent miscarriage and uterine fibroids with passion for communicating to the wider public, and has presented several documentaries for the BBC2 series Horizon, as well as writing popular books including Your Pregnancy Week by Week: What to Expect from Conception to Birth and Miscarriage: What Every Woman Needs to Know. She originally studied at the Royal Free Hospital's School of Medicine, and she went on to pursue her career at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
