Shaoni Bhattacharya is Science Editor at the Progress Educational Trust (PET) and at its flagship publication BioNews. Together with her fellow BioNews editors Martha Henriques and Jennifer Willows, she runs the BioNews writing scheme, which provides practical science writing training and experience for PhD students. She is an award-winning freelance journalist who writes for Nature, the Royal Society and the European Commission 's online science magazine Horizon. Previously, she was News Editor at New Scientist magazine.
Shaoni has written for a wide variety of other publications including the Mail on Sunday, Psychologies, the GP magazine Pulse, and the Daily Express. She also acts as a consultant for television, including for Love Productions, and she contributes to non-fiction books. She is coauthor of four pregnancy and parenting titles published by Dorling Kindersley including The Pregnant Body Book (buy this book from Amazon UK), which won a Medical Book Award from the British Medical Association in the 'Popular Medicine' category. Her interests include literature, the arts and nature, and she is fascinated by the crossover of art and science. She contributes to - and is an Associate Editor of - the website Arts and Humanities as Higher Education.
