Two women adopted from separate orphanages in India and raised by different families in the Netherlands have discovered they are biological sisters after taking DNA tests.
Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen were adopted as babies from two different orphanages in Mumbai in the early 1980s. They first met as teenagers at an event for children adopted from India, where they noticed similarities in their appearance and mannerisms and became friends. They kept in contact for several years before losing touch for around 15 years.
Geltink and Tijssen took consumer DNA tests in 2017 and 2026 respectively, identifying them as full siblings.
