A cassette tape capable of storing enough data to hold every song ever recorded has been created by researchers in China.
'DNA has the potential to become the next-generation information storage medium due to its high storage density ... and long-term storage time without electrical maintenance,' the authors wrote in a paper published in Science Advances reporting their findings.
The team printed synthetic DNA molecules onto a plastic tape and encapsulated it to preserve the DNA data. The tape is able to hold the equivalent of 36,000 terabyte hard drives.
