A study of 148,036 women from the Danish Infertility Cohort and Danish national registers has shown no increased risk of colorectal cancer in women with infertility who had used fertility drugs.
Researchers looked at the use of specific types of fertility drugs, colorectal cancer diagnoses and other variables among the women in the cohort, and found that although 205 women in the cohort were diagnosed with colorectal cancer, there was no association with drugs used during fertility treatment.
Authors of the study published in Fertility and Sterility have called for larger studies to confirm their findings.
