A baby born to a same-sex female couple in France is believed to be the first to result from a change in the law last year (see BioNews 1099).
The baby girl was born following IVF treatment at Nantes University Hospital, according to Le Monde.
The previous law restricted access to fertility treatment to heterosexual couples with proven infertility. Single women, or those with female partners had to travel abroad to access IVF or insemination with donor sperm.
