Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, the millionaire gay couple who last month announced the birth of their third surrogate-born child, now say they would like one more child to complete their family.
The couple had twins Aspen and Saffron in 1999 using an egg donor, IVF and a surrogate mother from the US. Last month, their third child, Orlando, was born to a different surrogate, but came from the same batch of 24 embryos they had in frozen storage, created using sperm from the two men and eggs from the original donor. Orlando is biologically a half brother to Saffron but is fully genetically related to Aspen, as Tony's sperm was used to create both of them, while an embryo created using Barrie's sperm was used to father Aspen.
Now, report the UK's Daily Mirror and Manchester News, the couple are looking for a woman to be surrogate for their fourth child. 'Orlando is a lovely, well-behaved baby and Saffron and Aspen are just thrilled. Now we've decided we want just one more', said Barrie.
According to the newspaper reports, Barrie is currently writing a book on surrogacy, and a documentary about the family will be shown next year on Channel 4. The couple are planning to move permanently to Spain, where they already have a home, keeping a flat in Manchester, UK. They insist that this is not because of negative reactions to their family, but just because 'it's time for a change'.
