A couple, called David and Emma to protect their identities, have secured a five-figure settlement from an unnamed London fertility clinic after four embryos were lost because a damaged pipette tube was used during their IVF treatment. The clinic now has procedures in place to ensure that pipettes are fully checked before they are used in the transfer process.
The couple had claimed compensation for the psychological impact for the embryos being lost, and for the loss of earnings caused by the need for additional treatment.
