Last year, hundreds of people across Australia sued the major IVF clinic, Monash IVF, over the destruction of potentially viable embryos (see BioNews 1079).
Now, 7NEWS Spotlight in Australia has released a news article and programme detailing the events that took place at Monash IVF.
Monash IVF had developed a revolutionary non-invasive genetic test that claimed only viable embryos would be transferred.
However, patients described how, two years after being told their embryos were abnormal, were informed that their embryos were misclassified and were indeed, viable.
Lawyer Michel Margalit, who is representing 200 people as part of a class action lawsuit against Monash IVF, said the test should never have been approved. 'It needed further work, and they just hadn’t trialed it properly.'
