The Law Society of Scotland has launched a new accreditation programme for practitioners specialising in surrogacy, donor conception and other forms of family building including IVF and adoption.
'Specialist advice around fertility law and family creation is increasingly in demand, and it's a sought-after area of practice, said Beverley Addison, a family law solicitor and convener of the Law Society's Fertility Law and Family Creation Panel.
The new accreditation was inspired by the 2023 joint report of the Scottish Law Commission and the Law Commission of England and Wales, which made recommendations for reforming surrogacy law (see BioNews 1185a and 1185b).
