A man from East Sussex discovered his biological father was a family friend after using a DNA testing kit.
'I was devastated,' he said. 'It completely upended everything I thought I knew.'
Genetic counsellor, Sara Levene, urges against purchasing a 'direct to consumer' DNA test as she often finds herself seeing patients who were ill prepared for the results from these types of tests (see BioNews 1170).
