Infertility impacts the mental health of women, even after it is successfully treated, a study published in Scientific Reports has shown.
Data collected from 6582 women in Australia between 2000 and 2018 found half of women with infertility reported psychological distress, and those with primary and secondary infertility were 24 percent and 27 percent respectively, more likely to report distress than women without infertility. Forty five percent of women with resolved infertility reported psychological distress, making them 15 percent more likely to report psychological distress than those without fertility problems.
