Dr Marisa Flook is a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined under the auspices of its writing scheme. She is currently working as a research engagement officer at Blood Cancer UK. Previously, Marisa was a postdoctoral researcher in Dr Mike Bowl's group at University College London Ear Institute, where she studied hearing loss genetics. Marisa completed her PhD in biomedicine at the University of Granada, Spain, focusing her research on the immunological background of Meniere's disease. She studied anatomical pathology, cytology and thanatology at the School of Health Polytechnic of Porto, Portugal. Additionally, she holds an MSc in molecular biology and genetics from the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
