Professor Victoria Gibbon and Dr Sianne Alves from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and Dr Jessica Thompson from the Department of Anthropology at Yale University, Connecticut have published an article in Nature Communications Biology proposing guidelines for the ethical study of ancient human DNA.
They propose a process of informed proxy consent for people and communities that ancient DNA research might affect.
