Researchers have identified biomarkers related to an individual's vaccine response, which they hope will enable the development of personalised flu jabs.
A joint venture of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research and Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany, involved researchers taking blood samples from 286 healthy donors during four influenza seasons in order to try to identify those who would be unprotected against influenza after vaccination.
The research was presented at the European Society of Human Genetics annual conference.
