A Chilean-American man has reunited with his biological mother after discovering he had been taken as a baby and adopted abroad.
Kyle Adler, now 36, was adopted by a US family in 1990 at around nine months old and grew up unaware of the circumstances surrounding his adoption. He later learned he was among thousands of children allegedly taken from Chilean families during the military dictatorship (1973–1990).
Using DNA testing and tracing services, Adler connected with his birth mother through organisations supporting adoptees searching for their origins.
The case is one of multiple recent reunions involving Chilean-born adoptees and birth families using DNA databases and specialist tracing organisations.
