Leuven, Belgium was the meeting place for the working group on the emergence, commercialisation and implications of PReconception Expanded CArrier Screening (PRECAS).
Professor Cathy Herbrand from the Centre for Reproduction Research at De Montfort University Leicester is leading this project.
We were made very welcome by Dr Eva Van Steijvoort and Professor Pascal Borry, who both work at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law at University of Leuven.
Joining the PRECAS working group in Leuven were Professor Zosia Miedzybrodzka, Professor Nicky Hudson, Dr Kriss Fearon and Lucina Wilde.
Two intense days of generating ideas for conference abstracts and posters called for a lot of coffee drinking. However, even with the distractions of the glorious weather and the delicious Belgian food we were incredibly productive.
The results of hard our work will be seen at two major conferences ESHG and ESHRE in the summer.
