Sandy Starr – deputy director of PET – went to the Houses of Parliament, to attend the launch of the interim report of the Royal Society's Science 2040 programme. This programme seeks to consider what UK science should look like in 2040, and how such a vision might be achieved.
The launch included a speech by the Royal Society's president Adrian Smith, which can be read here. Speeches were also given at the launch by Lord Patrick Vallance (minister of state for science, research and innovation) and Dame Chi Onwurah (who chairs the Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee of the House of Commons).
