Last week the Financial Times (FT) contacted PET to ask if they could use some of the data underpinning our Fertility Policy Tracker. The journalists Laura Hughes and Amy Borrett explained that the PET data was the most up to date they could find.
PET was delighted to work with the FT on an article relating to the increase in people having to self fund their fertility treatment.
As well as using our fertility policy data in the article, PET Director Sarah Norcross was quoted commenting on the fact that there is no pressure or impetus on local commissioners in England to fund fertility treatment properly.
The article also used quotes from patient charity Fertility Network UK and IVF specialist Professor Geeta Nargund.
Professor Nargund told the FT:
'Falling levels of NHS funding for IVF treatment are a depressing reflection of the state of fertility treatment accessibility in the UK, and should be a particular cause for concern for an ageing society on the brink of a fertility rates crisis.'
Unfortunately the article in the FT is behind a paywall and so you may not be able to read the article.
