Fertility, Genomics and Embryo Research: Public Attitudes and Understanding

The report Fertility, Genomics and Embryo Research: Public Attitudes and Understanding presents wide-ranging research exploring public attitudes to fertility treatment, embryo research, genetics, genomics, donor conception, surrogacy and related topics. The findings are accompanied by commentary from a variety of experts.

This research was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of PET, and was sponsored by Ferring. The resulting report was published by PET in June 2022.

Ipsos surveyed a nationally representative sample of the public in the UK in March 2022. There were 2,233 responses.

Subsequently, PET – together with the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology – commissioned Ipsos to carry out similar research in the UK, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. That research was published in July 2026, in a PET report entitled Fertility, Embryo Research and Genome Editing: Public Attitudes in Europe.
