Scientists from the University of Ottawa, Canada, have shown that the expression of genes in white blood cells changes rapidly when astronauts reach the International Space Station.
Publishing their findings in Frontiers in Immunology, the authors explain why these results may be why astronauts appear more susceptible to infectious diseases while in space.
