A mouse model of frostbite has been developed to better understand the healing process and cellular responses.
Researchers from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, China, and the National Centre for Protein Sciences, Beijing, China, have published their findings in Protein & Cell.
Current treatment methods for frostbite are limited and cannot prevent the development of complications. The researchers found that the skin organoids accelerated the healing of wounds resulting from frostbite and reduced scar formation in the later stages of recovery.
