A new paper explores the use of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) as a qualitative research method for genetic counselling research.
The authors, from Birkbeck, University of London, explored the theory behind IPA and its use in the wider context of genetic and genomic science, and psychotherapy and counselling research. They then examined research which used IPA with more direct relevance to genetic counselling in more depth, and called for the 'continuation of what is suggested to be a mutually beneficial dialogue between the two'.
The paper is published in the Journal of Genetic Counseling.
