Pavel Durov, founder of the messaging app Telegram, has six children from previous relationships, and more than 100 children through sperm donation in 12 countries (see BioNews 1265).
Durov claims that he is aiming to 'destigmatise the whole notion of sperm donation and incentivise more healthy men to do it.' While donor shortages can be a problem, when individual donors have large numbers of children this causes different issues (see BioNews 1283).
Arwa Mahdawi, herself a mother who used donor sperm, writes about Durov and other prolific donors in the Guardian.
