A lesbian couple given incorrect advice when registering the birth of their child in Cambridgeshire, that the non-birthing parent needed to adopt their child to be recognised as a parent, have been successful in their bid to revoke the adoption order and original birth certificate.
Sarah Osborne, 48, and Helen Arnold, 48 had a child together via IVF in 2014 but Osborne was forced to go through the process of adoption including undergoing criminal records checks. The family were then forced to go to the High Court in London to have the adoption order overturned, the Guardian reported.
