Stem cell-derived neurons transplanted into injured brains can navigate to appropriate targets and form new connections, according to a study by researchers from the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, California, and Duke-National University of Singapore Medical School.
The researchers used human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural cells in a mouse model of brain injury and hope their findings will improve cell therapies for stroke and other neurological disorders.
