Progress Educational Trust (PET) has come of age; the charity that brings you BioNews is celebrating its 21st year!
Throughout 2014 we will be reminding you of our highlights, sharing some of the things the great and the good have said about PET and letting you know about our ambitious new projects. This is going to be an exciting year: we already have plans and funding for five evening debates, about which more will be revealed soon.
But what better way to start than with a quote from our Patron, Baroness Mary Warnock DBE:
'When asked about the ethical regulation of science, I once said "ignorance and prejudice should not be allowed to dictate the outcome". The remarkable ability of the Progress Educational Trust to bring together experts from medical, ethical, legal and religious backgrounds, as well as its ability to anticipate key issues, ensures that the public and policymakers are kept up-to-date with ethical debate. As an independent body capable of drawing on all this expertise, PET has established itself as a provider of high-quality, thorough and objective analysis'.
PET needs your help to continue to inform the debate on the ethical issues surrounding genetics, assisted conception and stem cell and embryo research so that 'ignorance and prejudice do not dictate the outcome'.
So please do your bit so PET can flourish for another 21 years by making a donation now. PET aims to raise £21,000 and you can help us reach this target in a number of ways — Make a one-off donation online by visiting https://www.progress.org.uk/donate (please don't be put off by the photo!)
Text 'PROG23 £[amount]' to 70070 to donate
