A report into the infected blood scandal that saw people in the UK given blood products contaminated with HIV and Hepatitis C, including haemophiliacs given Factor VIII, has been published.
Cardiff Haemophilia Centre director Professor Arthur Bloom who treated haemophiliacs with the blood product Factor VIII, which helps clotting, was singled out in the report for the influence his views had on the Government's handling of AIDS and the risk to people with bleeding disorders. Haemophilia is a genetic condition and some families lost multiple members as a result of being exposed to contaminated blood products.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunack has promised the government will pay compensation, Guardian reported.
