NHS Warwickshire is to resume providing fertility services this month after it suspended many routine procedures last summer amid financial concerns.
The county health trust stopped providing procedures including IVF, hip and shoulder replacements and tonsillectomies to prevent it going millions of pounds into debt following a sudden increase in routine operations.
Now, the trust has announced it will resume providing one course of IVF to couples who meet the requisite criteria, bringing it back in line with its neighbour - Coventry.
Other NHS trusts, including NHS North Yorkshire and West Sussex PCT (see previous BioNews reports) also suspended IVF services over the last year in light of financial strains. Some have reinstated these services during 2011.
