A settlement has been reached between Yale University and 95 former fertility patients after they reported undergoing procedures at its Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility clinic in Orange, Connecticut, without adequate pain relief, as fentanyl had been tampered with by a nurse who worked there.
Details of the settlement have not been disclosed and there are a total of 154 total plaintiffs, some of whom are patients' partners, Reuters reported.
The case garnered the attention of New York Times which ran a podcast exploring why the women affected were ignored when they complained of pain during egg-retrieval procedures (see BioNews 1207 and 1122).
