Chris Hardy was previously a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. He is currently undertaking a PhD at the Dementia Research Centre at University College London (UCL) under the supervision of Professor Jason Warren and Professor Sebastian Crutch. He is focussing on understanding the mechanisms of auditory signal decoding in the primary progressive aphasias: subtypes of dementia that predominately affect language processing and comprehension. His research combines behavioural, structural and functional neuroimaging approaches and is supported by a Medical Research Council studentship. Previously, he studied Psychology at the University of Exeter, and went on to obtain a MSc at UCL's Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience.
