Dr Francesca Gavins is a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. She is a registered pharmacist, and is working at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. She completed her PhD at University College London's School of Pharmacy, under the supervision of Dr Mine Orlu and Professor Abdul Basit. She was part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Her research explored the effect of food on orally administered tools, using in vivo and in silico tools.
