Georgia Stimpson

Georgia Stimpson is a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. She is currently studying for a PhD student at University College London's Institute of Child Health. Having gone to university to study mathematics and statistics, she is now studying how novel statistical methods can be used to understand disease progression in children affected by rare neuromuscular diseases. In particular, she looks at how the side-effects of long-term steroid treatment could be affecting long-term disease progression. In another facet of her project, she is trying to understand why there is such a large degree of variability in response to treatment in Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Although not a natural born writer, Georgia loves writing for BioNews as it gives her the opportunity to explore new areas of Biology.
