Dr Nadeem Shaikh was previously a Volunteer Writer at BioNews, having originally joined the publication under the auspices of its writing scheme. He obtained his PhD from University College London (UCL)'s Research Department of Structural and Molecular Biology, where his research - in the laboratory of Professor Ivan Gout - focused on links between cell signalling and metabolism. He previously studied Molecular Biology at UCL, and went on to work in research roles at St George's University of London's Cardiovascular Biology Research Centre and at the Medical Research Council's National Institute for Medical Research.
