Dr Özge Özkaya was previously a Volunteer Writer at BioNews. She has a PhD in Developmental Biology from Queen Mary University of London, and an MSc in Molecular Genetics from the University of Leicester. She spent six years working at the University of Leicester as a postdoctoral research associate in behavioural neuroscience - in the laboratories of Professors Flaviano Giorgini and Charalambos Kyriacou and Dr Ezio Rosato - before moving into science communication.
