Sam Altman, the chief executive of Open AI, has funded the opening of Preventive, along with his husband Oliver Mulherin and Brian Armstrong, who is chief executive of cryptocurrency firm Coinbase.
Preventive, based in California, aims to use genome editing to 'correct devastating genetic conditions'.
