The PET team attended ESHRE 2026, the 42nd Annual Conference of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology, in London this year, braving the high temperatures of another heatwave!
ESHRE 2026 was the official launch of a brand new piece of research we have been working on, so the PET team were very excited about attending.
The report Fertility, Embryo Research and Genome Editing: Public Attitudes in Europe, presents wide-ranging research exploring public attitudes to fertility treatment, embryo research, genome editing, donor conception, surrogacy and related topics in four European countries – the UK, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
This research was conducted by Ipsos, on behalf of PET and ESHRE, and the resulting report is published jointly by PET and ESHRE.
We were delighted that the Chair of ESHRE, Professor Dr Anis Feki, the immediate Past-Chair Professor Karen Sermon, and the Chair-elect Professor Borut Kovacic all visited the PET exhibition stand to collect their copies of the report. (See the photo above.)
The PET team spent their time at the conference sharing the report with delegates and inviting them to contribute their own opinions in our 'Dilemma of the Day' - each day presented a different question from the report, encouraging debate on issues such as sex selection, age limits in fertility treatment and genome editing.
It was very interesting to see how opinions compared with those from the report and to listen to the debates people had with colleagues as they decided on their answers!
