Both Sarah Norcross and Sandy Starr attended the Reproduction Salon organised by Dr Lucy van de Weil at King’s College London.
The event saw the launch of the book The New Reproductive Order edited by Professor Sarah Franklin and Professor Marcia Inhorn. There were panel discussions featuring contributors to the book including Dr Marcin Smietana and Dr Zeynep Gurtin.
However, unbeknown to Sarah, Lucy and Dr Amarpreet Kaur had also organised a surprise retirement party to mark her stepping down from her role as chair of sociology at the University of Cambridge. She was showered with confetti and praise in equal measure from former students and colleagues. There were cakes with pictures of sheep on and indoor fireworks as well as a lovely photo montage.
