Marielle Frostrup interviewed Professor Imogen Goold about egg freezing on her Times Radio show, based on her presentation at PET's annual conference 'Making Fertility Treatment Fair: Equality in Access, Equality in Outcome?'
Professor Goold is a professor of medical law at the University of Oxford and delivered the presentation 'Stopping the Clock? Why Women Want to Freeze Their Eggs, and Why We Should Let Them' during the 'Fertility Preservation: Windows of Opportunity' session at PET's annual conference the previous week.
Goold outlined that egg freezing is costly and carries a small risk of health complications as with any ovarian stimulation. She argued that women should receive realistic information about the chances of achieving a pregnancy with frozen eggs, especially in relation to the age at which the eggs are collected.
