In this presentation, Professor Geraldine Hartshorne explains that donation of human eggs and human embryos plays a vital role in research, and can lead to improvements in fertility treatment and wider scientific understanding.
Professor Hartshorne also makes the case for changing UK law, to facilitate the establishment of a centralised tissue bank for human eggs and human embryos that have been donated to research.

PET (the Progress Educational Trust) supports Professor Hartshorne's proposal of a centralised tissue bank for human eggs and embryos, and has made a case for this in its submission to a consultation by the UK fertility regulator (the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority).
