PET presents a series of talks celebrating the 100th birthday of the late IVF pioneer Professor Sir Robert Edwards. This third talk is by Grace MacDonald, who was the second woman – after Lesley Brown – ever to have a child following IVF.
Grace was one of at least 282 volunteer patients to be treated with IVF at Oldham between 1969 and 1978, only two of whom – Lesley and Grace – went on to have a live birth (see BioNews 1304). Grace is also a patron of the charity Fertility Network UK.
Grace is introduced by Sarah Norcross, director of PET. This talk was originally given at the event 'Robert Edwards at 100: Remembering an IVF Visionary', produced by PET in partnership with the Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists.
