PET presents a series of talks celebrating the 100th birthday of the late IVF pioneer Professor Sir Robert Edwards. This fourth talk is by Alastair MacDonald, who was the second person ever born (the first was Louise Brown) who was conceived via IVF.
Grace was one of at least 282 volunteer patients to be treated with IVF at Oldham between 1969 and 1978, only two of whom – Lesley and Grace – went on to have a live birth (see BioNews 1304). Alastair is also a patron of the charity Fertility Network UK.
Alastair is introduced by Sarah Norcross, director of PET. This talk was originally given at the event 'Robert Edwards at 100: Remembering an IVF Visionary', produced by PET in partnership with the Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists.
The film of the talk was made by Video Production Edinburgh. If you can't see the film embedded above, you can watch it on YouTube.
